Course description
This course seeks to develop, in native speakers of Asian languages, writing competence in academic English at the postgraduate level. It is especially aimed at students who are planning on writing extended research papers and theses. The requirements of academic writing are explained in lectures, and students focus on developing skills in thesis writing by attending a weekly seminar. Students work towards the completion of a long research paper and are made aware of aspects of academic writing which often cause problems for speakers of Asian languages.
