Course description
An introduction video on Youtube: https://youtu.be/31TV3wUOv1Q This course teaches fundamentals to Earth Sciences/Geology with emphasis on the content that is required for engineering practice, further studies, and professional accreditation. The course is recommended to students in the Chemical and Civil Engineering specializations, especially for those who may pursue a major in Environmental, Geotechnical, Metallurgical, Mining, or Water and Marine Engineering, and for Science students who wish to major in Earth Sciences/Geology. The course covers the core aspects of geology and earth resources including minerals, rocks, structures, geological history, and maps. It will be delivered with practical sessions on mineral and rock identification, and construction and interpretation of geological maps. Digital learning resources are available for students in both flexible and external modes.
