Course description
This course teaches fundamentals to geology with emphasis on the contents that is required for engineering practice, further studies, and professional accreditation. ERTH1501 is also recommended for Science students who wish to major in geology. The course covers the core aspects of geology and earth resources including minerals, rocks, structures, geological history, and maps. It explains geological terms that are required to access the geological and geotechnical literature and for communication with geologists and geotechnical consultants. This course will be delivered with practical sessions on mineral and rock identification, and construction and interpretation of geological maps.
