Course description
ANTH3090 offers students a combination of classroom, practical and work-integrated learning experiences. In the `Ethnographic fieldwork¿ course students develop their knowledge and skills in research methods through practicing ethnography. The class begins with in-class training through hands-on workshops and concept-driven seminars, followed by an independent period of volunteer work in which students develop a practice-driven research proposal. The course reviews a range of methodological approaches to fieldwork and explores key ethical, political and practical issues in the doing and writing of ethnography and anthropology. The course guides students in development of critical perspectives on human society and culture through focussed research and structured experience.
