Additional application information
Students are required to have a current Blue Card (Working with Children Check) before commencing the practicums. Students can apply for a Blue Card through the School of Education and should do so three months before their practicum is due to commence. The Practicum Handbook provides additional information about practicum and school experience requirements and is available from the School of Education.

Why study the Bachelor of Education (Middle Years of Schooling)?
The Bachelor of Education (Middle Years) is a four year pre-service teacher qualification designed for effective teacher preparation in the unique contemporary context. The program develops capacities required by teachers working in the information age, a time of rapid change where education is recognised as playing an increasingly important role in society. The program develops specialist teachers across the year levels 4-9, aligning with the Middle Phase of Learning. In particular, the program focuses on the development of skills, understandings and attributes that enable graduates to demonstrate specialist abilities with respect to:
- Literacy and numeracy
- Diversity and differentiated learning
- Leadership and research
- Connected practicum
