Course description
This course is made up of two components: a) An introduction to public speaking for interpreters.¿ Students will be introduced to speech making from a variety of settings, making them familiar with the structure and patterns for various types of speeches in both English and LOTE. Emphasis will be placed on voice production and care, register, style & physical presentation. b) An introduction to consecutive interpreting, focussing on dialogue interpreting. Students will be introduced to the basic techniques of dialogue interpreting in a variety of settings. Other topics to be covered include notetaking and the importance of cross-cultural and non-verbal communication.
