Course description
This course is the first supervised practice experience in a social welfare agency for the MSocWkSt students enrolled in the #32 unit program. The course focuses on the integration of practice experience with earlier course material and the companion courses. As a result of the impact of COVID-19 the Australian Association of Social Workers has adjusted the number of required field experience hours by 20%. Therefore in 2020 most (although not all) placements will run for 400 hours (approximately 13 weeks at 4 or 5 days per week), starting 3 weeks before beginning of semester. In addition, students must attend a mandatory pre-placement workshop prior to placement commencing, and are strongly encouraged to attend four integration workshops. In summer semester 2020 these workshops will be conducted via Zoom. Please note that supplementary assessment is not available for this course.
