Course description
Learning the practice of community development requires familiarity with a number of concepts such as: the value and theory base of the work; the steps of the method; issues of moving a private concern to public action; the organisation of the community; and the structure of community organisations from which the work takes place. This elective provides the opportunity for dialogue to explore the issues involved with the practice of community development and to practice the core competencies involved with this method of working. The course is undertaken as fortnightly half-day workshops that are supported by online teaching and learning activities in the alternate weeks.
