Course description
This elective introduces students to the field of disability. The content is structured around four modules covering the experience of disability for individuals and families, and current policy and programmatic issues in the disability sector. It adopts a strong focus on the lived experiences of disability and reflects on the important presence of family and community in the lives of people with disability. The elective is offered in flexible/distance mode and utilises web based and print material.
Please note that students concurrently enrolled in SWSP3076 and SWSP4088, who are on rural, remote or international placements are exempt from attending the face-to-face workshops. They will be required to submit their reflections on workshop material via Blackboard. Please contact the course coordinator to advise of your rural, remote or international placement prior to the semester commencing.
