Course description

This course provides students with theoretical knowledge and clinical skills in the assessment and management of voice and fluency disorders in adults. Students will develop a comprehensive understanding of normal voice production, vocal pathology that may disrupt vocal function, and evidence-based approaches for diagnosis and intervention of voice disorders in adults. The course also explores the nature, aetiology, and characteristics of fluency disorders in adults, with an emphasis on differential diagnosis and evidence-based treatment approaches.

Through a combination of lectures, case studies, and practical tutorials, students will gain competencies in:

·        Conducting comprehensive voice and fluency assessments

·        Analysing normal and disordered voice characteristics and fluency behaviours

·        Applying evidence-based treatment techniques to a range of voice and fluency disorders

·        Understanding the psychosocial impacts of voice and fluency disorders on clients and their families

By the end of this course, students will possess the professional knowledge and clinical skills necessary to effectively assess and treat adults with voice and fluency disorders.
