Course description
Overview of interpretive approaches to sociology inquiry and corresponding qualitative methodological procedures. Theoretical coverage of the verstehen tradition, symbolic interactionism, ethnomethodology and conversation analysis, structuralism and poststructuralism. Methodological coverage of observational techniques, focus groups, visual research, semiotics. Using the NVivo data analysis package is also covered.
