Course description
Overview of interpretive and social constructionist approaches to sociological inquiry and corresponding qualitative methodological procedures. Theoretical coverage of the verstehen tradition, symbolic interactionism, ethnomethodology, conversation analysis, structuralism, poststructuralism. Methodological coverage of observational techniques, semiotics, analysis of images (including web pages) and use of the NVivo data analysis package.
