Course description
Why and how do religions emerge and change? Why do some religions thrive and some die? This course will survey Asian religious traditions, including Vedic religion, Zoroastrianism, the speculative traditions of the Upani¿ads, Jainism, Early Buddhism, Manichaeism, Hinduism, Mahayana Buddhism, Chinese Religion, Japanese Religion, and Sikhism. It will place them in the contexts of their emergence and transmission, exploring themes of global interconnectedness, including their manifestations in Australia (utilising the Queensland Atlas of Religion).
