Course description
This course examines the relationship between the People¿s Republic of China¿s domestic politics and its international behaviour. Rather than reducing China to top-down leadership or viewing it as a monolithic system, the course places its foreign policy in the context of historical legacies, institutional structures, and culture. The course is grounded in the traditions of both International Relations and China Studies and is structured around four key themes: modern Chinese history, domestic institutions, political and strategic culture, and international engagement.
