Course description

In this course, Bachelor of Nursing students will undertake 120 hours and Bachelor of Nursing/Midwifery students will undertake 160 hours of supervised clinical experience. Clinical practice experience is by integrated and block model placement, depending on the nature of the clinical environment. There is an equal emphasis on practice elements and theoretical understanding, therefore the scheduling of learning activities enables clinical placement shifts to be interspersed with on campus classes. Students are exposed to increasingly complex professional practice concepts under direct Registered Nurse supervision in the clinical practice setting. The educational focus of Year 2, Semester 2 is care of individuals with complex and/or chronic conditions across the lifespan and the social context of care. There are 4 courses with a Nursing focus that run concurrently this semester. These courses provide complementary content to assist the learner to integrate theoretical and practice knowledge for application in the clinical setting.
