This Museum Studies Field School takes place in Vietnam over a two-week intensive period. It examines current practices, techniques, theories and methodologies of engaging with memory in the museum industry and applies this in the context of Vietnam. The course comprises of a series of one-day workshops based in Hanoi and Danang (with two one-day tours) and considers: theoretical approaches to memory and history; frameworks and methods for engaging with memory in a museological context; case studies and analysis of museums working with memory and with multiple audiences; working with memory in the form of narratives, objects and photographs; diversifying audiences through the use of memory; as well as specific local factors in dealing with museums from a South-East Asian perspective.
