Course description

Using live case studies, this course provides students with a signature learning experience in business leadership and strategy befitting the status of the course as the program capstone. Working with partners from business and government, the course invites students to address a major contemporary challenge in business, government, or society. For example, student projects could address such diverse and challenging topics as access to and the cost of health care, access to water, management of national parks and fire prevention/rehabilitation, mitigating waste and pollution, or algorithmic trading and market volatility, "big data" and consumer privacy, blockchain and cybersecurity, and implementing clean supply chains. The targeted industry partners include the "big four" management consulting firms (Deloitte, EY, KPMG, and PwC). Working under academic supervision, students work in project teams to address a problem or issue highlighted by a partner organisation. Key representatives of the partner organisations are available to students, and potentially make proprietary data available to the student teams. Students present their project work to an audience including representatives of the partner organisations.
