Course description
A supervised practice experience for Bachelor of Journalism students. Placement runs for 100 hours (approximately seven days undertaken in regional Queensland). This course focuses on the integration of practice with course material and companion courses. School consent is required for enrolment. Please contact the School of Communication and Arts for permission to enrol. Prospective students are advised to contact the School to express interest at least one semester prior to enrolment. Basis for selection: Competitive entry via EOI and GPA ¿ A persuasive cover letter of consideration attached to a portfolio of multi-media stories from previous courses and industry experience/placement, and a demonstrated capacity to work cooperatively with other students and staff. Please note that supplementary assessment is not available for this course. The work produced in this course will form part of a community-based website about towns in the South Burnett. These are communities that have fallen victim to emerging news deserts Those living in these communities have limited or no access to news coverage on their local area. This course seeks to address that by producing relevant journalism. The aim is for the website to become an organic and sustainable and serve the people of the South Burnett. Part of your responsibility in this course is to build and maintain the website. This site will stand alongside JACDigital.
