Course description
This course is designed for students to identify the specific technology-needs in healthcare setting and their benefits compared to conventional methods. Students will be introduced to a range of technology applications in the areas of clinical practice, education and administration. The course is to foster awareness of e-health at national and international level. Students will examine the characteristics of e-health in various countries such as Australia, US, Canada, Europe and the developing world. While evaluating the technological advances in healthcare, students will also study the disadvantages and possible pitfalls of the use of technology in healthcare. The course will draw attention to social, ethical and legal issues associated with the use of ICT in healthcare.
