Course description
In-depth introduction to modern Chinese society, culture, institutions & economy from 1800-1950. Particular attention is paid to the following themes: rebellion and revolution, relations between urban and rural society, and the impact of imperialism on Chinese politics, society, economy and ideas. This course may not run if there are fewer than 20 enrolments.
