Course duration
This is a year long course. It commences in Semester 2, 2024 and completes in Semester 1, 2025.
Course description
This course is no longer offered after Semester 1 2025. From Semester 2 2025, students should take SCIE4020. Enrolment enquiries to be sent to agriculture@enquire.uq.edu.au.
This course is an industry-focussed capstone experience where students will conduct an industry placement and a research project on a question co-created with industry. Students will be co-supervised by a UQ academic supervisor and an industry supervisor. During the first three weeks, students will engage with their industry partner to co-create the research questions for the research project, which will be carried out in semester 1, with emphasis on defining the research issue, establishing methodology, undertaking appropriate analysis of data, and drawing defensible conclusions. In the second semester, students will undertake an industry placement with their industry supervisor. This placement, which is held over a period of up to 14 weeks (maximum 560 hours), involves continuous, structured industry experience, related to their research project, in a production or service enterprise. It enables the students to apply their theoretical knowledge and research skills developed in their undergraduate program. From 2024 students must complete a research project contract in collaboration with a research supervisor. Students must submit the Research Project Contract by the first Thursday of Teaching Week 1 in February for students commencing in Semester 1, and by the first Thursday of Teaching Week 1 in July for students commencing in Semester 2 to agriculture@enquire.uq.edu.au.
