Course description

This course is the second in a series of three English Curriculum and Literacy courses in the Bachelor of Education (Primary) degree. This cornerstone course continues to prepare preservice teachers for learning and teaching Language, Literature and Literacy, the three interrelated strands of the Australian Curriculum: English Learning Area. Language variation and construction, responding to and examining quality literature, and analysing and interpreting a range of traditional and multimodal texts are highlighted throughout the course. Preservice teachers will continue to build their repertoire of pedagogies for learning, planning, teaching, and assessment in English and literacy including strategies suitable for students from diverse backgrounds such as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and English Additional Language or Dialect students.
