Course description

Evidence-based crime policies aim to control crime problems using strategies and tactics informed by sound, scientific evidence and rigorous program evaluation. This course gives students real-life skills to recognise, assess, and generate evidence-based crime policies across a range of different crime and justice domains such as police, courts, corrections, and in related areas such as drug and alcohol treatment, youth development and crime prevention. The course will draw on the skills of experimental criminologists, systematic review experts, and program impact evaluation specialists, focusing on a number of contemporary policy issues (such as Boot Camps, Youth Conferencing and Policing Crime Hotspots).
