Course description
Dams and embankments are important civil engineering structures that require geotechnical design, construction and maintenance to satisfy stability and sustainability. This course focuses on the geotechnical design and application of dams and embankments for water-retaining purposes. Topics covered include dam safety, project development, geotechnical parameters for dam and embankment design, seepage through and beneath water retaining structures, internal erosion in embankment materials, analysis of stability and monitoring methods in dams and embankments.
