Assessment methods
Research Outline (5%), - Write a one or two page (A4) outline of the research project Week 1, 3 and 6 Checkpoint Meeting (P/F), - Meeting with supervisor in week 1, 3 and 6 (1 semester), or, week 1, 6, 12 (2 semester) into the project, complete the checkpoint reflection. Research Report (80%), - Written report of approximately 6,000 words and no longer than 25 pages (excluding references). Laboratory Notebook and Performance (15%) ¿ Performance in the research project as determined by your supervisor and mentor, and appropriate use and maintenance of a laboratory notebook.

Course description
A 2 unit Individual workplace- laboratory- or computer-based project & analysis of a specific topic in bioinformatics, biotechnology, or molecular biology. Projects can be undertaken within university laboratories or in an industry setting with co-supervision by an academic staff member. The project results will be presented via an appropriate report format. Students should enrol in BIOX7002. Students who have completed BIOX7002 may enrol in BIOX7003.
