Course description

This course covers theoretical areas and attends to practical skills involved in applied anthropology with a focus on native title research and Indigenous Peoples. Applied Anthropologists are increasingly in demand for their skills in social and cultural analysis and ethnographic methodology, as well as understandings of diverse systems of law, land tenure and social groups. Anthropological method and theory forms the basis of much research and practice undertaken with Indigenous Peoples in Australia and internationally; whether related to native title, other systems of recognition of Indigenous Peoples¿ rights, or in comparative development contexts.

The course has an introductory module leading to more advanced training in conceptual and methodological areas, which makes it suitable for those with a background in anthropology as well as students with multidisciplinary background.
