Course description
A survey of the major achievements of Roman visual arts and architecture and the influences that helped to shape these achievements. The following topics will be treated in detail: the buildings and monuments of the city of Rome, including temples, baths, fora, sculpture, mosaics and painting, with particular reference to Roman attitudes to the arts. There will be study of relevant artefacts in the Antiquities Museum. This course may not run if there are fewer than 20 enrolments.
