Course description

This course provides an opportunity to develop research skills and specialist knowledge through a guided independent research project. 

ADPS7060 provides students with the opportunity to undertake a focused research task in a specific area of research interest, conducted through a series of advisory meetings and self-directed study. The course expects students to achieve an advanced level of academic argument and the mastery of instruments for conducting and expressing that argument. The research project will result in a body of work that communicates the process, outcomes and value of the research. The mode of communication and scope shall be agreed upon between the student and the advisor. Students submit a Thesis describing the research and outcomes in a durable and communicable scholarly form. The Thesis may include written analysis, fieldwork reports, computational modelling, surveys, designs and other creative work, material experiments, or any other record and analysis of the program of research agreed with the Advisor. Students commencing in Semester 1 enrol in ADPS7060 for Sem 1 and Sem 2; Students commencing in semester 2 enrol in ADPS7061 for Sem 2 and the following Sem 1.
