Bachelor ofAdvanced Humanities (Honours)

Program and course requirements

Complete 64 units comprising:

  • 10 units for all BAdvHum(Hons) Core Courses, and
  • One of the following:
  • 38 units for BAdvHum(Hons) One Major Option , or
  • 38 units for BAdvHum(Hons) Two Major Option , or
  • 38 units for BAdvHum(Hons) Extended Major Option , and
  • 16 units for BAdvHum(Hons) Honours Courses

Selected courses must include at most 24 units at level 1.

Selected courses must include at least 24 units at level 3 or higher.

BAdvHum(Hons) Honours Courses

Complete 16 units for either of the following:

BAdvHum(Hons) Projects

Complete 16 units comprising:

BAdvHum(Hons) Project Courses
BAdvHum(Hons) Project Elective Courses

Complete exactly 6 units from the following:

and 2 units at Level 3 as Approved by Honours Supervisor.

Please seek approval from the Program Director before enrolling in BAdvHum(Hons) Project Elective Courses.

Additional Rules

1. Progression through program

This program has strict course prerequisites that impact on semester and year progression in your program as follows:

1.1- You may only enrol in BAdvHum(Hons) Honours Courses if you have completed 10 units for BAdvHum(Hons) Core Courses and 38 units for BAdvHum(Hons) Major Options.

1.2- You may only enrol in a BAdvHum(Hons) field of study if you have gained a GPA of 5.5 or higher for a BAdvHum(Hons) major or a BAdvHum(Hons) extended major.

1.3- If you do not meet the requirements of rule 1.2, you may only enrol in BAdvHum(Hons) Projects.

1.4- To enrol in BAdvHum(Hons) Honours Courses following an interruption to studies, you must consult with the Program Convenor to ensure that you are prepared for enrolment. 

2. Cross-listed courses

As a course can only be credited once, the following course replacement rules apply where a course is listed in more than one of your selected plans (minor, major or extended major).

  • If the course is compulsory in more than one plan, it will be credited towards one plan only. You must replace the compulsory course in the second plan, with a course chosen from the second plan, at the same level or higher.
  • If the course is compulsory in one plan only, it will be credited towards the plan in which it is compulsory. You must select the alternative course in the second plan, with a course chosen from the second plan, at the same level or higher.
  • If the course is an elective in more than one plan, it will be credited towards one plan only.

3. Class of honours

Specific requirements apply to the awarding of honours in this program. The class of honours is calculated based on the grade point average of the grades obtained by a student in the first attempt at all 16 units from BAdvHum(Hons) Honours Courses.

4. Exit awards

If you withdraw from the program after completing the requirements for the Bachelor of Humanities program, you may apply and be awarded the Bachelor of Humanities.
