Students in their final year of the BA/BEd(Sec) program must choose Curriculum Studies Courses that correspond with each of the Teaching Areas (Majors) completed in the BA component of their program or for the Music Specialisation you must choose the two Music Curriculum Studies Courses EDUC4645 and EDUC4658.

Additional Rules
1. Cross-listed courses
As a course can only be credited once, the following course replacement rules apply where a course is listed in more than one of your selected plans (minor, major or extended major).
- If the course is compulsory in more than one plan, it will be credited towards one plan only. You must replace the compulsory course in the second plan, with a course chosen from the second plan, at the same level or higher.
- If the course is compulsory in one plan only, it will be credited towards the plan in which it is compulsory. You must select the alternative course in the second plan, with a course chosen from the second plan, at the same level or higher.
- If the course is an elective in more than one plan, it will be credited towards one plan only.
2.Hurdle Requirements
You must complete the following program-level hurdle requirements:
- Successful completion of the Literacy and Numeracy Test for Initial Teacher Education Students (LANTITE) prior to graduation.
3.Concurrent Studies
You are not allowed to undertake concurrent study if you are studying the following parts:
- BEd(Sec) Professional Year Courses
4.Study Load
The following parts must be undertaken as a full-time study load unless approval is granted to vary your study load:
- Professional Year, commencing in Semester 1 only
5.Progression through program
You must complete the requirements for the BA component and BEd (Sec) Core Courses before enrolling in BEd (Sec) Professional Year Courses.
6.Work Integrated Learning Requirements
Before you start the program, you must demonstrate that you meet the following requirements. You are responsible for ensuring that you hold and maintain these requirements specified for the duration of your program. Refer to the Work Integrated Learning and Work Experience Policy and Procedure for more information:
- Blue Card (see Working with Children Policy)
7.Recognition of Prior Learning
This program is subject to the following credit limits in conjunction with Recognition of Prior Learning Policy:
- The credit cancellation period for the BEd (Secondary) is seven years.
8.Exit Awards
- Award of the Bachelor of Arts and the Bachelor of Learning Studies (Secondary)
If you meet all program requirements for the BA/BEd(Sec) but do not meet the LANTITE test requirement, you may apply to be awarded the Bachelor of Arts and the Bachelor of Learning Studies (Secondary).
The Bachelor of Learning Studies (Secondary) is not approved for teacher registration in Australia.
- Award of the Bachelor of Arts with a specialisation in Music and the Bachelor of Learning Studies (Secondary)
If you have completed the Music specialisation in the BA component of the BA/BEd(Sec) you may apply to be awarded the Bachelor of Arts with a specialisation in Music.
The Bachelor of Learning Studies (Secondary) is not approved for teacher registration in Australia.
