Plan and course requirements

Complete 16 units comprising:

  • 2 units for all Mathematics Level 1 Compulsory Courses, and
  • 6 units for all Mathematics Level 2 Compulsory Courses, and
  • 4 units for all Mathematics Level 3 Compulsory Courses, and
  • 4 units from Mathematics Level 3 Elective Courses

Mathematics Level 1 Compulsory Courses

Complete 2 units for ALL of the following:

MATH10812 units
Advanced Discrete Mathematics

Students should complete the 4 units of Level 1 prerequisite courses for the major:

Students who have not successfully completed Queensland Specialist Mathematics (or equivalent) should complete MATH1050 in their first semester as an elective course.

Mathematics Level 2 Compulsory Courses

Complete 6 units for ALL of the following:

MATH23012 units
Linear & Abstract Algebra & Number Theory

Students with a grade of B or higher in Queensland Specialist Mathematics (or a 6 or 7 in MATH1050) should take the sequence MATH1071, MATH1072 and MATH2401. Students with a grade of C in Queensland Specialist Mathematics (or a 4 or 5 in MATH1050) should take the sequence MATH1051, MATH1052 and MATH2400.
