  • a bachelor's degree in science, engineering or health sciences, with two or more first-year, university-level science courses that cover human anatomy, human physiology, organic chemistry, inorganic chemistry and/or physics.
You must have a grade point average (GPA) of 4.0 on a 7-point scale in your previous qualification.

Why study the Master of Occupational Hygiene?

Graduate with the skills you need to meet industry demand for highly qualified occupational hygiene professionals. Work anywhere in Australia or Internationally, in remote, rural or urban regions, and across all industry sectors. This program aims to provide students with the skills and knowledge to anticipate, recognise, evaluate, communicate and control environmental stressors in the workplace, including chemical, physical, biological, ergonomic and psychosocial hazards. The 24-unit Master of Occupational Hygiene is designed for graduates of a Bachelor degree in the same discipline (science, engineering, health science) with first year university level science.

    What you can do with a Master of Occupational Hygiene

    Careers

    Graduates could seek employment across all sectors but there is a particular need in high-risk industries (i.e., mining and quarrying, oil and gas, resources, manufacturing, and construction), consulting organisations, and with State and Federal Governments in enforcement, policy and standards development roles. There are also opportunities for research careers in this field through further research development and the completion of a PhD. There are roles for both generalist OHS professionals and occupational hygienists with international bodies such as the International Labour Organisation (ILO) and the World Health Organisation (WHO) and occupational hygienists and OHS professionals are employed throughout the world.

    Program rules for the Master of Occupational Hygiene

    To complete the Master of Occupational Hygiene

    To graduate with a Master of Occupational Hygiene a student must have successfully completed all requirements of the program as certified by the Executive Dean. This includes courses to be taken to complete the program and any other specific conditions of the program including admission, enrolment and progression requirements.
