Prerequisites
An approved bachelor degree in nursing or equivalent and be eligible to practise as a registered nurse in Australia. Applicants must be working in a clinical area where there is mental health exposure.
International students who wish to undertake this program will not qualify for a Student Visa. To study this program in Australia, international students must hold alternative Australian Visa/Residency status with a sufficient study entitlement. See Department of Home Affairs for further details. Alternatively, for programs available in 'External' mode, students may study from their home country.

Mental health nurses are in high demand in a variety of fields within the mental health sector. This program will progress students to specialist practice in the area of mental health nursing. It will build on students¿ knowledge, skills and attitudes relevant to contemporary mental health nursing practice. The program is taught by highly experienced and internationally-recognised practitioners and researchers.
The Graduate Diploma in Mental Health Nursing is designed to advance students¿ understanding of the theories, legislation, policies and standards that underpin mental health nursing. Students will develop skills that promote safe nursing practice and management of risk in a clinical setting.

To fulfil the requirements of the Graduate Diploma in Mental Health Nursing, a student must complete the requisite number of courses chosen from the course list in accordance with the Program Rules.
