Why study the Masters of Development Economics/Economics and Public Policy?

The dual degree of the Master of Development Economics and Master of Economics and Public Policy offers students the opportunity to combine a deep understanding of economic development theory with a thorough understanding of how government policy is developed and rolled out. This allows students to be fully equipped for a career in central government economic development. Students will study a program with a strong emphasis on quantitative techniques in econometrics, benefit/cost analysis and operations research (MDevEcon), alongside an economics-centred, multidisciplinary program (MEconPP). A range of electives are available, allowing study in fields such as health, environment, innovation and competition policy, international economics and politics and quantitative techniques for project appraisals. This dual program will allow students to complete the requirements for two Masters degrees over a two year study period, rather than three years, if the programs were taken separately.
