Prerequisites
- A postgraduate qualification in a relevant clinical field.
- To hold an unrestricted licence as a registered nurse in Australia, with no condition on registration related to unsatisfactory professional performance or unprofessional conduct.
- Two years, full-time equivalent experience as a registered nurse in a specified clinical field and two years at an advanced practice level in the same clinical field.
You must have a grade point average (GPA) of 4.0 on a 7-point scale in your previous qualification.
Entry is competitive with a limited intake.
Applicants who identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander who meet the minimum entry requirements for this program will be offered a place. On admission to the program, you will need to provide evidence of your Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander status.
International students who wish to undertake this program will not qualify for a Student Visa. To study this program in Australia, international students must hold alternative Australian Visa/Residency status with a sufficient study entitlement. See Department of Home Affairs for further details. Alternatively, for programs available in 'External' mode, students may study from their home country.

Why study the Master of Nurse Practitioner?
The Master of Nurse Practitioner is specifically designed to prepare experienced registered nurses to function autonomously and collaboratively in advanced and expanded clinical roles. As a nurse practitioner you will provide innovative and flexible healthcare delivery that complements other healthcare providers. You will receive extensive clinical and theoretical knowledge, which will equip you with the specialist skills required for the expanded role as a nurse practitioner. You will develop skills in assessment and management of clients that may include but is not limited to the direct referral of patients to other healthcare professionals, prescribing medications and other treatment modalities including ordering diagnostic investigations. The nurse practitioner role is grounded in the nursing profession's values, knowledge, theories and practice and provides innovative and flexible healthcare delivery that complements those provided by other healthcare providers. The scope of practice of the nurse practitioner is determined by the context in which the nurse practitioner is authorised to practice.

Careers
Nurse Practitioners work in a variety of specialties within both public and private health care settings in positions including: a clinical role where you may work individually or lead a team consultative roles in public and private practice owning and running your own business providing high-level support in a hospital or community clinic.

Program rules for the Master of Nurse Practitioner
To complete the Master of Nurse Practitioner
To graduate with a Master of Nurse Practitioner a student must have successfully completed all requirements of the program as certified by the Executive Dean. This includes courses to be taken to complete the program and any other specific conditions of the program including admission, enrolment and progression requirements.
