Prerequisites
An approved degree in the same discipline with a GPA of 5; or
A GCIR* or GCIS* or GDipIS* from the university with a GPA of 5; or
An approved degree in any discipline with a GPA of 5 and a minimum of three years professional experience, approved by the executive dean.
*Please note the GCIR or GCIS or GDipIS can only be used as the basis of entry into the program if you already have an existing approved degree in the same discipline.
Additional application information
Same discipline is defined as a degree with a sequence of study in peace and conflict studies, international relations, political science, sociology, cultural studies, media studies, communication, economics/political economy, anthropology or ethnography, and Law.
To satisfy the requirement for same discipline a minimum amount of content in that discipline is required - this would be at least a major, field of study or approximately 30% of program content including a mix of introductory and advanced courses.
Professional experience requirements same discipline can be demonstrated with 3 years work experience in a relevant international relations organisation Unless otherwise stated, the minimum amount of relevant work experience is 3 years full-time equivalent (either paid or voluntary), with documented evidence (such as references)

Why study the Master of International Relations?
The Master of International Relations (MIR) is a coursework program aimed at developing conceptual and empirical understanding and skill sets in research and knowledge in the IR field. The MIR builds on a core set of four courses covering the main elements of IR. Students will also be able to focus on a range of elective options covering fields such as IR of the Asian Pacific, Law and International Politics, Security and Statecraft, and Globalisation and Development. A research dissertation option is also available.
