Prerequisites
Bachelor degree in engineering or related field or Diploma in Fire and Rescue Operations, Diploma of Public Safety - Firefighting Management and Advanced Diploma of Public Safety - Firefighting Management plus at least 2 years' experience. Applications on the basis of post-secondary study and two years work experience in a related field will be individually assessed.
International students who wish to undertake this program will not qualify for a Student Visa. To study this program in Australia, international students must hold alternative Australian Visa/Residency status with a sufficient study entitlement. See Department of Home Affairs for further details. Alternatively, for programs available in 'External' mode, students may study from their home country.

Why study the Graduate Certificate in Fire Safety?
Currently, this program is available only to applicants proposed by Australian Fire and Rescue Services. If you feel this program would be beneficial to you or your staff, then please contact us directly for a discussion. This program provides professionals in fire safety a unique opportunity to broaden their knowledge, skills and practice and develop their careers. In particular Building Approvals Officers within the Fire Service will benefit from this program to enhance their career opportunities. It introduces core concepts in the assessment and delivery of a fire safety strategy, together with emerging directions and innovative practices. Students learn to locate, interpret, synthesise and apply information from a variety of sources. Graduates demonstrate specialised knowledge in fire safety across a broad range of areas including fire dynamics, fire protection systems, egress and fire safety legislation.

To complete the Graduate Certificate in Fire Safety
To fulfil the requirements of the Graduate Certificate in Fire Safety, a student must complete the requisite number of courses chosen from the course list in accordance with the Program Rules.
