Prerequisites
Hold an approved degree in dentistry from the university (or equivalent) with a minimum two years of graduate clinical experience and be registered as a dentist with the Dental Board of Australia.
Please note that due to limited places, entry is competitive and not all applicants who meet the entry requirements are offered a place.

Limited places are available in each discipline and entry is determined using a competitive selection process based on academic records, other postgraduate qualifications, work and research experience since graduation, commitment to the discipline and referee reports.

A personal statement and supporting documentation must be submitted with your application by the closing date. Applicants are not required to submit academic transcripts for studies undertaken at UQ.
Referee reports
A request for referee reports will be emailed to your nominated referees (two required) once your online application is submitted. Please notify your referees and advise them of the application closing date before submitting your online application.
Shortlisted applicants will be required to undertake a Clinical Assessment Program. Such applicants will be responsible for all travel and accommodation costs incurred in undertaking the assessment in Brisbane.
This program has pre-placement requirements which must be met prior to commencement of the program. Further details can be found on the Placement Ready website.

Why study the Doctor of Clinical Dentistry?
UQ's Doctor of Clinical Dentistry (DClinDent) is a three year fulltime Level 9 extended Masters (Australian Qualifications Framework) leading to a registrable specialist qualification. You will experience:
- Interdisciplinary learning and undertake patient care at the state-of-the-art Oral Health Centre with the most modern equipment, technologies and teaching methods.
- Collegial support and interaction with the profession from the first week of your first year of study.
- Research focus over all three years of the program.
What you can study
You will undertake a field of study related to your chosen specialty under the guidance of a supervisor which includes a component in basic and clinical sciences, a major clinical component in the nominated specialty, and a research project and report.

Placement courses
You will undertake extensive supervised clinical practice in a range of dental clinics in hospitals, external healthcare facilities and the Oral Health Centre (OHC) located at Herston.
Placements will commence in first semester of the program. Actual timing of the placement may vary depending on area of speciality.
Clinical placements may be outside of the Brisbane metropolitan area where you will be required to fund your travel, accommodation and daily living expenses.

To fulfil the requirements of the Doctor of Clinical Dentistry, a student must complete the requisite number of courses chosen from the course list in accordance with the Program Rules.
