Prerequisites
Hold an approved degree in dentistry from the university (or equivalent) with a minimum two years of graduate clinical experience and be registered as a dentist with the Dental Board of Australia.
Please note that due to limited places, entry is competitive and not all applicants who meet the entry requirements are offered a place.

Limited places are available in each discipline and entry is determined using a competitive selection process and is based on academic records, other postgraduate qualifications, work and research experience since graduation and referee reports.
Applicants holding qualifications other than the BDSc from the university may be required to complete a clinical assessment program as part of their application for enrolment.

All successful applicants are required to apply for and gain provisional registration or if applicable, full registration, with the Dental Board of Australia, which includes the Board's English Language Proficiency requirements. Students must have registration prior to commencing their study and this must be maintained for the duration of the program.
This program may have inherent requirements that need to be met prior to undertaking placement.
Students are required to provide proof of immunisation against blood-borne transmissible viruses or other diseases, as per the School's immunisation schedule.
Students must obtain at the commencement of the program and thereafter hold for the duration of the program, a current Blue card and First Aid Certificate (including CPR).
For applicants who need to provide evidence of English proficiency, please note that this program requires a higher level of English language proficiency than the UQ minimum.

Why study the Doctor of Clinical Dentistry?
UQ's Doctor of Clinical Dentistry (DClinDent) is a three year fulltime Level 9 extended Masters (Australian Qualifications Framework) leading to a registrable specialist qualification. You will experience:
- Interdisciplinary learning and undertake patient care in a state-of-the-art facility with the most modern equipment, technologies and teaching methods.
- Collegial support and interaction with the profession from the first week of your first year of study.
- Research focus over all three years of the program.
What you can study
Students undertake a field of study related to their chosen specialty under the guidance of a supervisor which includes a component in basic and clinical sciences, a major clinical component in the nominated specialty, and a research project and report.

Placement courses
Students will undertake extensive supervised clinical practice in a range of dental clinics in hospitals, external healthcare facilities and the new Oral Health Centre (OHC) located at Herston.
Students will commence placement in their first semester of the program. Actual timing the placement may vary depending on area of speciality.
Students may be required to undertake clinical placements outside of the Brisbane metropolitan area and students are required to fund their travel, accommodation and daily living expenses.
