An approved degree in Exercise and Sport Science (or equivalent) and be recognised as an exercise scientist by Exercise and Sports Science Australia (ESSA); or have been assessed by ESSA as being deficient only in exercise science subject areas covered by the MClinExP program.
Entry is competitive based on GPA.
The minimum GPA to be considered for admission into this program is 4.0.

Why study the Master of Clinical Exercise Physiology?
Clinical Exercise Physiology graduates are in high demand in the exercise rehabilitation, health and fitness, and sport science industries.
This program is designed to permit suitably qualified university graduates to meet the requirements for Exercise and Sports Science Australia (ESSA) accreditation in just one and a half years of intensive study and clinical training. Only ESSA accredited Exercise Physiologists can provide exercise science services covered by Medicare (the national health care scheme), Work Cover and the Department of Veterans' Affairs.
Students are provided with specialised skills and knowledge in exercise prescription and programming for patients with acute and chronic medical conditions, injury prevention and exercise interventions. The program provides a comprehensive coverage of key pathologies including metabolic, cardiovascular, neurological, musculoskeletal, and acute conditions. Students will work with clients with specific clinical conditions in each of our five specialised on-campus exercise clinics. Students will also appreciate the role of exercise scientists in health promotion, injury prevention and effective treatment planning, implementation and evaluation.
What you can study
This program provides students with a comprehensive coverage of key pathologies including metabolic, cardiovascular, neurological, musculoskeletal and progressive conditions. Students will develop specialised skills and knowledge in the design and delivery of exercise interventions for clinical populations including acute and chronic medical conditions (e.g. diabetes mellitis and coronary heart disease), injury (e.g. spinal cord injury, brain injury) and lower back pain.

Placement courses
You will undertake approximately 600 hours of supervised clinical practice in a range of clinical settings that includes hospitals and a variety of health care organisations. During your placements, you will have the opportunity to apply your theoretical knowledge acquired through coursework to practice and develop your clinical skills in real life settings.
Clinical placements begin in the second semester of the program. During the third and final semester you will undertake your final two major clinical placements.
Please note, some placement providers require students to provide a criminal history check. Students allocated to these placement providers will be required to supply this.

Clinical placements may be outside of the Brisbane metropolitan area where you will required to fund your travel, accommodation and daily living expenses.

Careers
Graduates may choose to work as an accredited exercise physiologist in a hospital, health and fitness centre, sporting academy, sports clinic, rehabilitation clinic or in your own private practice.
