Why study the Graduate Certificate in Mediation and Conflict Resolution?
The Graduate Certificate in Mediation and Conflict Resolution will provide you with the knowledge and practical skills to negotiate, mediate, manage and resolve issues and support decision making in a wide range of professional settings. The program draws on current practices to deal with conflicts ranging from small individual disputes to large scale, international, and multi-party conflicts.
The program offers detailed studies in deep seated conflict and cross cultural conflict resolution. Students can use the program to complete the training requirements for national accreditation as mediators or to articulate into the suites of masters programs in peace and conflict studies offered by the school.
The multidisciplinary nature of conflict resolution is reflected in this program, which will appeal to those with diverse backgrounds and cultures. Students come from disciplines including political science and international studies, law, medicine, business, social science, education and the arts.
What you can study
The program includes core courses on mediation and negotiation and a wide variety of electives. The mediation course complies with the new Australian Mediator Accreditation Standards and after completing this course, students will be eligible to be assessed so that they can be accredited. Students can tailor their programs to suit their individual needs, and may choose to focus on communication skills, international conflict resolution, business and workplace dispute management or family dispute resolution. Placement opportunities are also available.

To complete the Graduate Certificate in Mediation and Conflict Resolution
To graduate with a Graduate Certificate in Mediation and Conflict Resolution a student must have successfully completed all requirements of the program as certified by the Executive Dean. This includes courses to be taken to complete the program and any other specific conditions of the program including admission, enrolment and progression requirements.
