Prerequisites
Bachelor's degree or equivalent in any field with a grade point average of 4.5 on a 7 point scale, or Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma in Arts in the relevant field.
Additional application information
Students hoping to progress to study in the Master of Philosophy or Doctor of Philosophy research programs should enrol in the MA (Adv) as they will be better equipped to undertake a dissertation.

The MA (Advanced)consists of either #24 or #16 of coursework and #8 of dissertation, the latter to be taken either in a third or fourth semester. The program is currently available in the field of linguistics. Students are provided with a professional development program with a special focus on languages other than English (LOTE). This field is taught in collaboration with studies in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) . Core courses cover TESOL teaching and curriculum, computer-enhanced language learning, and language structure. Electives explore the linguistic, psychological, educational and socio-cultural aspects of language learning, and the methodology of teaching and learning English in second and foreign language settings. Research and project options are also available, and are recommended for those intending to continue to higher research degrees.
