Proficiency in spoken and written Japanese and English. IELTS minimum of 6.5 overall. Candidates must sit and pass the Aptitude Test set by the School of Languages and Comparative Cultural Studies before being admitted to the program. A fee may apply for the Aptitude Test. Work experience is desirable but not essential.

Translation is in one direction only - into students' (native) language, while interpreting is performed in both directions (Japanese to English, English to Japanese).
