Why study the Master of Sports Medicine?
The UQ programs in Sports Medicine have been created specifically for practicing general practitioners who wish to develop or advance their knowledge and skills in sports medicine.
The programs aim to develop a comprehensive and interdisciplinary approach to prevention, treatment and management of sports injuries. Students will be provided with the clinical knowledge, research and practical skills for evidence-based practice in sports medicine. They will be well placed to treat different types of exercising individuals (e.g. athletes, amateur sports people), and different types of injuries sustained during sporting activities and other physical activity (e.g. muscular injuries, lumbar region injuries). An understanding of the fundamental principles of sports medicine and its applications will serve as an important backdrop within a general practice setting.
Programs offer flexible, work-based learning and are delivered entirely online using proven online learning pedagogies (i.e. video tutorials) and discussion forums to allow contact with expert staff, other general practitioners. Assessment projects are highly practical and industry relevant, they can also be customised to the students own development needs.

To complete the Master of Sports Medicine
To fulfil the requirements of the Master of Sports Medicine, a student must complete the requisite number of courses chosen from the course list in accordance with the Program Rules.
A student is required to obtain #16 from the MSpMed course list. Refer to program rules for further information.
