Why study the Master of Integrated Water Management?
The challenges facing water managers across the world increasingly require leaders able to cross social, environmental and technological boundaries, to combine disciplinary knowledge and use theory to inform effective practice. The integrated approach to water management acknowledges the environmental, ecological and human processes which water undergoes from catchment to coast, and considers the impacts systemically across environment, politics, law, science, culture, engineering, economics, health and society. The suite of programs is coordinated by the International WaterCentre and taught by lecturers from four internationally-recognised Australian universities - The University of Queensland, Monash University, The University of Western Australia and Griffith University. What you can study
Students will develop the strategic, managerial and technical skills they need to advance in the water sector. They will become familiar with all aspects of integrated water resource management; be capable of providing water management expertise to help reduce poverty through equitable and sustainable use of water; be skilled to provide technical and managerial input into planning, design and operation of water projects and facilities; understand the principles of managing water supply, wastewater treatment and urban infrastructure projects; recognise the socio-economic factors impacting on effective water solutions; and understand the governance and institutional frameworks underpinning water resource management. The program focuses on building the skills base of students in such areas as critical thinking, problem solving, statistics and data management, knowledge transfer and effective leadership.

What you can do with a Master of Integrated Water Management
Careers
IWC trained professionals will develop the strategic, managerial and technical skills they need to advance in the water sector, locally and internationally. Graduates will be able to apply for high-level management positions in the public, private and non-governmental sectors. Students may pursue careers with international development agencies, private water management companies, or policy and planning bodies at various levels of government. Graduates from the program are expected to be especially interesting to consultancy companies carrying out work in developing countries, as well as in local domestic work.

To complete the Master of Integrated Water Management
To fulfil the requirements of the Master of Integrated Water Management, a student must complete the requisite number of courses chosen from the course list in accordance with the Program Rules.
A student is required to obtain #24 from the MIWM List comprising #8 from Part A, #8 from Part B and #8 from Part C. Refer to the MIWM rules for further information.
