Why study the Master of Economics?
Obtaining a higher qualification in economics is a career investment. Students in the Master of Economics receive advanced training in microeconomics, macroeconomics, and econometrics, and have the option to undertake a field of study in health economics, economics and public policy or applied econometrics. The program develops a proficiency in analytical skills, critical thinking, and economic knowledge. Graduates are equipped with the skills and knowledge to succeed in a dynamic and increasingly competitive environment. This program does not presume prior knowledge or training in economics.
What you can study
The program plan for this program can be found here, and includes information on selecting courses relevant to a field of study. This program requires no prior knowledge of economics. You will be given the opportunity to progress to more advanced courses in microeconomics, macroeconomics and econometrics during the program. Choose a field of study in Health Economics, Economics and Public Policy or Applied Econometrics, or pursue an undeclared field and focus on economic analysis and other specialised areas of economics through a choice of electives. You may like to include a research component within your program, which provides a pathway to research higher degree study.

What you can do with a Master of Economics
Careers
Graduates can expect to find work in government agencies, at the local, state and federal level. A specialised field of study or an undeclared field of study may lead to employment in the private sector, including banks, consultancy companies, utilities, international agencies, insurance companies, marketing, retail and the manufacturing sector, health departments and facilities, pharmaceutical companies, the finance industry, and development agencies.

To complete the Master of Economics
To graduate with a Master of Economics a student must have successfully completed all requirements of the program as certified by the Executive Dean. This includes courses to be taken to complete the program and any other specific conditions of the program including admission, enrolment and progression requirements.
