Prerequisites
Bachelors degree in dental science (UQ) or equivalent and minimum two years graduate clinical experience. Overseas trained dentists may be required to undertake a theory and clinical skills assessment.
This program requires a higher level of English language proficiency than the UQ minimum, an IELTS overall score of 7 is required, with 7 in each section, including reading, writing, listening and speaking.

Completion of this program will not qualify graduates for specialist registration nor will it permit the graduate to register and practise in Australia unless they have obtained a primary bachelors degree in dentistry from an Australian, New Zealand or UK university or passed the Australian Dental Council (ADC) registration examinations.
Dental Board of Australia policy prevents dentists carrying blood-borne viruses from undertaking invasive procedures, the definition of which includes most aspects of clinical dentistry. Students must provide serological evidence of their status in relation to blood-borne transmissible viruses (Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, HIV). Students are also required to undertake TB screening in accordance with Queensland Health recommendations.
Students are required to complete a Senior First Aid Certificate prior to their studies. Part-time students must also complete a CPR competency recertification course prior to the second half of the program.
Overseas trained applicants (Australian citizens/permanent residents) may be required to undertake a theory & clinical skills assessment and provide evidence of English language proficiency.

Why study the Master of Clinical Dentistry?
The MClinDent program offers postgraduate studies in Clinical Dentistry with an emphasis or focus in an area(s) of interest (not a recognised specialty).
The program is intended to enhance clinical skills and knowledge at a postgraduate level and may generate interest in further postgraduate study in clinical dentistry. The University of Queensland Dental School is the oldest and most established dental school in Queensland and has been located at Turbot Street, Brisbane since 1941. In 2012, the School is scheduled to move to the new Oral Health Centre at the UQ Herston campus. The Centre will be Australia's largest and most advanced tertiary oral health facility, combining research, education, training, and specialist expertise in patient care. Teaching facilities will include clinical simulation areas, pre-clinical laboratories, lecture/seminar rooms, and research laboratories.

- Annual CPR recertification (approx $55)
- Dental Board registration (approx total $545 full-time student, $1090 part-time student)
- Senior First Aid Certificate (including CPR) (approx $155)

- In addition to transport and accommodation costs, an examination fee of A$3,500 will be charged for the clinical assessment. Successful applicants will have the fee deducted from their tuition fees.

To complete the Master of Clinical Dentistry
To fulfil the requirements of the Master of Clinical Dentistry, a student must complete the requisite number of courses chosen from the course list in accordance with the Program Rules.
A student is required to obtain #16 comprising -
- major clinical component (#12);
- basic science/dental science courses (#4).
