Why study the Graduate Diploma in Rangeland Management?
The rangeland management program provides essential knowledge and skills for managing current and emerging issues in Australia's vast rangelands. These are invariably complex issues, requiring a systems approach and careful consideration of 'triple bottom line' (ie. economic, environmental and social) outcomes in both management and strategic decisions. Through a problem-based approach, students will gain and apply this knowledge to ensure profitable and sustainable enterprises, healthy landscapes and vibrant communities in the rangelands.
This is Australia's only coursework program specifically in rangeland management, but the courses are relevant to an even wider area. The program is unique in many other ways. Its structure is based on national surveys of the knowledge and skills needed for individual, enterprise and community success, and the gaps in knowledge among major stakeholder groups. Furthermore, the structure and content of individual courses has been heavily influenced by over 250 experienced managers, scientists and extension officers. This wide base of expertise underpins the currency, practicality and high relevance of the individual courses developed by Rangelands Australia.
