What you can study
This program is conducted full-time over 2 years (6 semesters including summer semesters), beginning in November (summer semester) of each year. The first semester introduces the fundamental knowledge relating to professional issues, communication, physiotherapy examination and treatment techniques. In the subsequent semesters, students will be exposed to the theoretical, practical and research aspects of musculoskeletal, cardiothoracic and neurological physiotherapy across the lifespan before undertaking supervised practice to develop core competencies and ethical and professional behaviours necessary to function as a physiotherapist.

Research component
The program incorporates advanced training in clinical reasoning and independent research. Students will undertake a group research project in their final year.

To be considered for enrolment, an applicant must: <10><10>¿<9>Hold a bachelor degree; study in fields such as allied health, human movement science, physical or biological sciences is recommended. <10>¿<9>If the bachelor degree was completed more than 10 years prior to program commencement, have subsequently completed, within the 10 years prior to program commencement, the following university level study:<10>¿<9>2 units (1 course) in human anatomy - musculoskeletal anatomy; and <10>¿<9>2 units (1 course) in human physiology - systems physiology.<10><10>Suitable UQ pre-requisite courses:<10>¿<9>Human Anatomy<10>¿<9>ANAT1005, ANAT2029 or BIOM2020<10>¿<9>Human Physiology<10>¿<9>PHYL1007 or BIOM2012<10><10>At the commencement of the program you must obtain, and thereafter hold for the duration of the program, a current First Aid Certificate (including CPR) and Blue Card. Additional costs
- Annual CPR re-certification (approximately $80 per year)
- Students are expected to fund travel and living expenses associated with placements, some of which may be outside the Brisbane metropolitan area.
- First Aid Certificate (including CPR) (approximately $130 renewed every 3 years)
- A clinical uniform shirt is required and may be purchased through the School.
- Costs for vaccinations and serology are the responsibility of the student and will vary based on individual and program requirements.

To complete the Master of Physiotherapy Studies
To graduate with a Master of Physiotherapy Studies a student must have successfully completed all requirements of the program as certified by the Executive Dean. This includes courses to be taken to complete the program and any other specific conditions of the program including admission, enrolment and progression requirements.
