Why study the Graduate Certificate in Applied Law?
The Graduate Certificate in Applied Law (GCAppLaw), Graduate Diploma in Applied Law (GDipAppLaw) and Master of Applied Law (MAppLaw) programs are designed for non-law graduates who would find some legal background useful in their current careers. The GDipAppLaw and MAppLaw programs offer a general introduction to basic legal concepts and then enable students to undertake elective courses of special relevance to their professions or occupations. The GCAppLaw offers a general introduction to basic legal concepts and additionally allows students to choose two elective courses within areas of interest from postgraduate law courses.

The Applied Law programs are designed to provide graduates with legal knowledge relevant to their current careers/professions. The programs are not designed to facilitate career changes and do not lead to membership of any professional bodies.
Program rules for the Graduate Certificate in Applied Law
To complete the Graduate Certificate in Applied Law
To fulfil the requirements of the Graduate Certificate in Applied Law, a student must complete the requisite number of courses chosen from the course list in accordance with the Program Rules.
A student is required to obtain #8 from the MAppLaw List comprising -
- LAWS7000; and
- #2 from Group 1 (other than LAWS7000); and
- #4 from Groups 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 of which #2 may be for courses listed in Group 5
